You can get your page to the top of Bing relying purely on content marketing. However, due to the introduction of Rankbrain, (which is now the third most important search engine marketing factor) when you are dealing with Google’s algorithm you must establish a flow of traffic to your website (e.g. to determine CTR, dwell time and bounce rate) which is measured first, before Google decides to give you a prominent place in the SERPs.

This means that it is harder to get ranked on the first page of Google, but with best practice search engine optimization it is well worth the effort!

Keyword Importance
